The History of AquaPets
Puku, Kiko, and Tu

2004
Wild Planet Toys, a US toy company, secured the rights to sell them outside of Japan and named the brand AquaPets.
6 characters were released in 2004 including the original Puku, Tu and Kiko …now renamed as Muki!

2011
In 2011, Wild Planet Toys reintroduced AquaPets with a new water drop–shaped capsule in the US and select countries.
They added 16 new Aquapet characters and a new “Dew Drop” Aquapets collection (a mini size with a removable figure inside). Wild Planet Toys was sold in 2012 and the Aquapets brand was discontinued.
The New Aquapets introduced trendy/cute new characters, new personalities, new music styles and new games.

2003
AquaPets were first released in 2003 in Japan by Sega Toys Japan under the Brand Name “Puku-Puku Water Angels”.
The 3 original characters were Puku, Kiko, and Tu. Each AquaPet lived in a water filled test-tube shaped home and they magically moved in the water by responding to sounds and the press of buttons. Each AquaPet had its own unique music and sound.

2007
30 Iconic Characters, 3 Magical Years – The Aqua Pets Era by Wild Planet
Over the next 3 years Wild Planet Toys designed and released 30 total characters (not including their licensed versions) and then stopped selling the line in 2007.

2025
In 2025 Atomic Monkey Products obtained the rights to design and sell Aquapets in all countries.
The previous version of Aquapets was more than 10 years old and since then toy and collectible characters had risen in popularity, especially Digital and Electronic pets, Japanese Animation Characters and Trendy/Cute Animation designs.
